Daniel "Dan" Lee Sutton

Daniel Lee “Dan” Sutton, age 88, passed away the morning of Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, 2021, at his home.

Dan was born June 25, 1933 in Liberty Township, OH, to the late Charles and Iva (Rickard) Sutton. On November 5, 1955 he married the love of his life, Maxine (Crawford) Sutton who preceded him in death on April 9, 2021 after 65 1/2 wonderful years of marriage.

Dan was a graduate of Ohio City High School. He was an independent insurance agent for more than 50 years. Dan loved the Lord and had been a longtime member of the Lima Missionary Baptist Church and was currently a member of Living Hope Church, where his son, David “Buck” Sutton, serves as Pastor. Dan always said “the two greatest decisions he ever made was giving his heart to the Lord and marrying his beloved wife, Maxine.” He dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most recently, Dan enjoyed leading a support group for care givers and playing pool.

He is survived by four children, Pamela Sutton, Douglas (Donna) Sutton, Gregory (Tanya) Sutton and David ‘Buck’ (Kristin) Sutton; eleven grandchildren, Adam (Heather) Sutton, Matthew (Amanda) Sutton, Lauren Sutton, Hayley (Steve) Thomas, Evan (Caylee) Sutton, Kyle Sutton, Cory Sutton, Tyler (Audrey) Sutton, Austin (Gabrielle) Sutton, Amanda (Seth) Ciminillo, Kaitlyn Sutton; seventeen great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Crawford, Lula Crawford and Mary Crawford and two brothers-in-law, Robert “Bob” Ziegler and Gary Money.

In addition to his parents and wife he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan Sutton, three brothers, Gerald Sutton, Earl Sutton and Aaron Sutton; seven sisters, Leotta Sutton, Opal Bursely, Janice Eglar, Pauline Jones, Hazel Felver, JoAnna Davis and Dorothy Dobbs; in-laws, Caleb and Effie (Lee) Crawford; four brothers-in-law, Hollis Crawford, John Crawford, Jerry Crawford, Fitzhugh Crawford; two sisters-in-law, Doris Ziegler and Karen Money.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Cable Road Alliance Church, 2264 N. Cable Rd, Lima, OH 45807. Pastor Buck Sutton will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, prior to the service at the church.
