Vickie Kay Fowler, age 71, passed away April 28, 2021, at 8:53 pm, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Vickie was born August 24, 1949 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to William and Geraldine Jones, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 10, 1985 she married Clyde Sneary who survives in Lima. Vickie had a passion for education and excelled at academia. She attained a double masters degree throughout her college career, attending schools such as North Greenville College, Xavier University, Rio Grande University, and the University of Dayton. She proudly served as a special education principal at Marimor School for many years, and also worked as a teacher and adjunct faculty member at various institutions such as Perry Local Schools, Temple Baptist College, and Landmark Christian Schools. She was an active member of her community and was a proud member of the Lima Host Lions Club, the Apollo Career Center Student Services Advisory Council, the Lima Head Start policy Council, the Lima ARC/HUD Advisory board, ACESS – local county collaborative, the American Business Woman Association, and the American Association of University Women, to name a few. She attended Waynesfield Baptist Church, where she greatly enjoyed being a member and sharing in fellowship with her church family. She loved to travel, particularly when she could go on a cruise and enjoy the beach with her loved ones. She loved her family and friends above all else, and especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved daughter and granddaughter. Vickie was an exceptional woman, and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Survivors include: spouse, Clyde Sneary; previous spouse: Richard Fowler; children, Cam (Chris) Sneary, Daniel (Debbie) Sneary, Gary Sneary, Eric Sneary, and Renee (Chas) Fowler-Iliff; siblings and siblings in law, Billy (Cliff Livingston) Jones, Maxine (Bill) Heffner, and Rowena Vanmeter; grandchildren, Juliana Pearson, Amy Sneary, Andy Sneary, Adam Sneary, Matt Sneary, Lindsay Sneary, Gracie Sneary, Kama Stokes, and Alisha Watkins; as well as numerous great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents listed above, she was predeceased in death by a brother, Ricky Jones and a brother-in-law Norman Vanmeter.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Eastside Chapel. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery following the service. A public visitation will take place on the night prior, Monday, May 3, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., also at the Eastside Chapel.
In honor of Vickie’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice in her name.
