Dorothy “Dottie” Hippensteel, 92, passed away at 12:30 am, May 10, 2019, at St. Rita’s Medical Center of Lima.
She was born April 10, 1927 in Mahomet, IL, to Curtis and Lela (Rickwood) Ambrose who preceded her in death. On April 30, 1949 she married Carl E. Hippensteel Jr. who preceded her in death on June 9, 2011. The couple had been married for 62 years.
Dottie retired as a 4th grade teacher at Lincoln School in Findlay. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church and its Rebecca Circle in Findlay. She was a volunteer for the Findlay City Mission, a docent for over 10 years for the University of Findlay’s Mazza Museum, and a member of the Hancock County Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include: her children, Phyllis A. Neff of Lima, Bruce (Becky) Hippensteel of Findlay, Curt (Lou Ann) Hippensteel of Charlotte, NC, and Connie Lee (Marty) Bass of Lexington, KY: 9 granddaughters 3 grandsons, and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: a sister, Marjorie Deale; a brother, Kenneth Ambrose.
