Jackie L. “Jack” Taylor, 85, of Lima, passed away at 6:08 PM on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born on September 2, 1933 in Lima to Russell and Elsie M. (Crider) Taylor, who both preceded him in death. On November 9, 1956, he married Lois J. Wenhofer and she preceded him in death on December 2, 2011.
Jack worked at Ford Motor Company Lima Engine Plant for 32 years in the preventive maintenance department, retiring in January of 1990. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Lima Community Church. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1275, where he was very active with the funeral detail since 1990. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 96, the Eagles Aerie 370 and the Ford Retiree’s UAW Local 1219.
Surviving are his sons John (Lori) Taylor of Las Vegas, NV and Robert (Susan) Taylor of Alexandria, VA; his grandson Nick Taylor of Lima; his brother Jimmy (Delores) Taylor; his sisters Ellen Wallace and Shirley (Ben) Cross.
He was preceded in death by his brothers John Taylor, Norman (Betty) Taylor, Richard Taylor, Russell (Carol) Taylor, Jr.; his sisters Mary Leidy, Betty Gross and Joann Vanschoyck.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2019 at Bluelick Cemetery, 2760 E. Bluelick Road, Lima, with Pastor Terry Ayers, officiating.
Graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 1275 and active duty members of the US Navy.
