Juanita Jean Herring, age 91, passed away on January 4, 2019, at 4:26 am, at the Lima Memorial Health System. Juanita was born October 30, 1927, in Lima, OH, to Eugene and Juanita (Toy) Neely who preceded her in death. On December 20, 1947, she married Jack B. Herring who preceded her in death on May 19, 2008.
Juanita was a 1945 graduate of Lima Central High School. She then attended Miami University and earned an associates degree. After college, she married the love of her life and she focused on raising her family. She also was very involved and worked as a bookkeeper with her husband’s family business, Herring Neon Signs. She worked there her entire life until she retired due to her husband’s passing. Juanita was a member of the D.A.R. She will be remembered as being a very dedicated and loving wife, mother and Christian woman.
Juanita is survived by her son, James R. Herring of Houston, TX area, a grandson, Theodore “Todd” (Veronica) Sharpe of Hamilton, OH and a granddaughter, Amy Blackwood of FL, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon A. Herring and a brother, Jim Neely.
There will be a funeral service held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Brother Bill Reeder. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery following the service. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3-8 pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
