William “Bill” D. Bell, age 91, passed away on February 8, 2022, at 5:55 pm, at his residence surrounded by his family. Bill was born February 6, 1931, in Turtle CreeK, PA, to William A.P. and Fanny L. (Hill) Bell who preceded him in death. On June 9, 1956, he married Joan E. (Dennison) Bell who survives in Lima.
Bill was a 1948 graduate of Lima Central High School. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in business marketing. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War as an air traffic controller. He had worked as a self-employed sales manufacturing representative retiring in 2002. He had also previously worked with Mack Shreve and Associates in Garrett, IN and also The Sutcliffe Co. in Louisville, KY as a sales representative. Bill was a member of the Market Street Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder and was a member of the session board. He was also a member of the Eagles Aerie #370, a former member of the B.P.O.E. #54 and a life-long member of the Lost Creek Country Club where he met the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Joan. He had served on various board positions with the Lost Creek Country Club. Through the years he managed to shoot 6 hole in one’s at various golf courses in this area and he loved traveling with his wife, where they played at golf courses all over the world.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children: J. Scott Bell of Sandusky, OH, Craig W. Bell of Bluffton, OH and Kathy B. Reed of Huntsville, OH, 6 grandchildren: Lyndsey (Brooke) Hale, Hannah Bell, Grace Bell, William Bell, Rachael (Dillon) Bok and Ashley (Wally) McGinnis and a great grandson, Jack Cameron McGinnis, a sister, Nina Clark of Sun City West, AZ and a brother, Dr. Ronald (Sue) Bell of Lima, OH.
There will be a funeral service held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10:30am at the Market St. Presbyterian Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Dottie Kaiser and Rev. Kenneth Chorle. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Friends may visit at Market St. Presbyterian Church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Market Street Presbyterian Church or Putnam County Hospice.
