William “Bill” C. Ballentine, age 93, passed away August 29, 2021, at 3:10 am, at the Springview Manor Nursing Home. Bill was born July 3, 1928, in Springfield, OH, to Charles and Lucille (Butler) Ballentine who preceded him in death. On June 21, 1952, he married Margaret E. (Butters) Ballentine who survives in Lima.
Bill was a 1946 graduate of Springfield High School. He then attended Ohio Northern University where he earned a B.A. in Education. He finished his education with a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Dayton. He joined the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. Once he returned home he had worked as a letter carrier and also dabbled in home construction. He worked for more than 25 years as a teacher with the Lima City Schools retiring in 1988. Bill was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and also the VFW #1275 and Eagles Aerie #370. He enjoyed playing golf, wood working, crafting, gardening, landscaping, boating and camping (all at Indian Lake), OSU Football and he loved his dogs.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children: Robert (Ellen) Ballentine of Delaware, OH, Joseph (Terry) Ballentine of Palm Harbor, FL, Jerry (Judy) Ballentine of Spring Hill, FL, Karol (Steve) Talner of Clearwater, FL and Greg (Lisa) Ballentine of Dunedin, FL, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert (Marjorie) Ballentine.
The family will not be having any public visitation or service at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Charles Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
