William “Bill” M. Betts, 89, passed away on February 24, 2023, at 6:37 am, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born January 2, 1934 in Aberdeen, MS, to Charlie and Irene (Mooney) Betts who both preceded him in death.
Bill graduated from Messick High School in 1952. He then graduated from Memphis State with a bachelors of science in 1956. Bill then enlisted into the United States Navy and retired as a Lieutenant Commander Naval Pilot. He was an avid reader and had read thousands of books. Bill loved his son dearly and cherished spending time with his grandchildren and all of his extended family. Bill was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, Bentlee.
Bill is survived by his son, Paul (Vicki) Betts of Lima, OH, grandchildren, Amanda (Carson) Courter of Hixson, TN, Andrea Betts of Chattanooga, TN, Austin Betts of Chattanooga, TN, Brittani Bassitt of Spencerville, OH, great-grandchildren, Lilly and Charlie Courter, Margaret Betts, Chandler Bassitt and Bryndalynn Runneals.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Betts.
