William A. “Bill” McPheron, age 77, went home to be with his Savior at 5:04 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at his home.
Bill was born October 25, 1940 in Lima to the late Allen J. and Jean V. (Wren) McPheron. On September 24, 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, Rhonda (Thompson) McPheron, who survives in Elida.
Bill was a 1958 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Air Force. Bill retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant in 2006 after 28 and ½ years as a millwright. He was a member of Local #1219.
When Bill’s sons were young, he coached their midget football teams, notably the Lions and Scorpions. He went on to referee area football games. He also served on the committee for Pack #50 when the boys were in scouting. Bill was extremely proud of his children. If you wanted to bring a smile to his face, just ask him about his grandchildren.
Bill became a later in life golfer, playing on the Ford League and the Lima Baptist Temple League for many years. Bill enjoyed many pleasant hours on the course with Norm. Thanks, Norm.
After retirement Bill and his wife enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home and wintering in Florida. They also looked forward to house boating on Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee with fellow Ford retirees every year.
Bill and his wife were actively involved with the Lima Senior Class of 1958 (greatest class ever) alumni committee, planning reunions and picnics.
Bill faithfully attended Lima Baptist Temple and the Solid Food Bible study. He loved his Lord and has finally met Him face to face. Where I am, there you will be also. John 14: 2-3.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rhonda L.
