Wendy M. Helmig, 53, of Lima passed away at 7:06 PM on Monday, August 30, 2021 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born on April 24, 1968 in Lima to Edward E. and Joanne (Sawmiller) Helmig, who survive in Lima.
Wendy was a 1986 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School and earned her bachelor degree in Graphic Arts and Design from Bowling Green State University. She worked for Bluffton University in the graphic design department and had previously work for the Lima News for over 19 years.
She loved country music and photography but most of all she loved to be at home with her cats and her favorite dog Louie.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her sisters Kristin (David) Hefner and Monika (Jeff) Wolfe, both of Lima; her niece Devin Wolfe; her nephews Anthony (Taylor) Wolfe and Derrick (Kennah) Wolfe; her aunts Janet and Carol Helmig; her cousins Deanna, Linda, Karen, Christine, Pam, Paula, Jackie, Becky, Beverly, Brian, Emily, Laura,Eric, Gretchen, Bill and Jim. She is also survived by many other family members and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles Cecelia Helmig, Ralph “Bud” Helmig, Clarence “JR” Helmig, Carl Helmig, Tom (Lois) Helmig and Mary (Richard) Wetzel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 2, 2021 and from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 3, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL, 828 Bellefontaine Ave., Lima. A parish wake service will be held at 8:00 PM on Friday evening at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2200 W. Elm Street, Lima.
Entombment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
