Wayne E. Hyvarinen Jr., age 58, was called into presence of the Lord at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Wayne was born August 11, 1964, in Lima, OH, to the late Wayne E. Sr., and Arrilla (Shoemaker) Hyvarinen.

Wayne was a 1982 graduate of Elida High School and received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Ohio Northern University in 1987. While in high school Wayne ran track and cross country. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Manchester United soccer team and the Nashville Predators hockey team. Wayne had previously worked as a computer technician for the Thomas Nelson Publishing Company and as a forklift driver for the DHL Supply Chain / Exel. Wayne grew up attending Lima First Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his siblings, Judith Hyvarinen of Hammond, IN, David (Jennifer) Hyvarinen of Anna, Steven Hyvarinen of Lima, James (Heather) Hyvarinen of Royersford, PA, and Susann Hyvarinen of Lima; nieces, Kristin Hyvarinen, and Kendra Hyvarinen; 2 grandnieces, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, prior to the service at the funeral home.
