Virginia “Ginny” Lee Lhamon, age 84, passed away June 23, 2021, at 2:00 am, at the Roselawn Manor in Spencerville. Ginny was born December 6, 1936, in Lima, OH, to Robert H. and Philomena C. (Glancy) Lee who preceded her in death. On August 7, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart and husband of 65 years James “Dick” R. Lhamon who preceded her in death on October 16, 2019.
Ginny was a 1954 graduate of Lima Central High School where she was the Homecoming Queen and the May Queen. She had worked as a payroll clerk with EXCELLO and then with the Allen County Board of Elections for more than 20 years. Ginny was an active member of the Allen Country Democratic Party and had volunteered for many years with the Lima Midget Football association. She also sewed over 500 dresses for children of Haiti. She loved spending her retirement years at their home on the Auglaize River.
Ginny is survived by her children: Matthew (Kathleen) Lhamon of Harrod, OH, Sylvia (Steve) Corbin of Sidney, OH and Catherine (Eric) Wiechart of Lima, OH, 6 grandchildren: Ann (Stephen) Welly, Krista (Justin) Boren, Kyle (Rebecca) Corbin, Mary (Adam) Rector, Emily (Derek) Shoop and Elise Wiechart, 9 great grandchildren: Broxton, Brooklyn and Blake Boren, Norah, Greyson and Anderson Welly, Crawford Corbin, Wilson and George Rector, 7 siblings: Ann Kurz of Houston, TX, Patti Smith of Baton Rouge, LA, Robert Lee of Poincianna, FL, Carol (Frank) LoBue of Chicago Heights, IL, Barb Lee of Lebanon, OH, Frank Lee of Jacksonville, FL and Bette (Ron) Rader of Beaumont, CA and a sister in-law, Jan Maus of Lima, OH and Ginny loved all of her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: James Lee and William Maus, 2 brothers in-law, Karl Kurz and Ralph Smith, a sister in-law, Bobbie Jean Lee and a sister, Janet Crish.
There will be a funeral service held on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 4:30 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Rev. Todd Cosart. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday from 3:30 pm until the time of the service at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
