Virginia “Ginny” Leona (Gruebmeyer) Fledderjohann Heidt, 97, passed away on August 23, 2022, at Danbury Senior Living in Worthington, Ohio, surrounded by her family. She was born at the family farm in New Knoxville, Ohio on March 19, 1925 to Henry and Leona Gruebmeyer, who preceded her in death.
She married Dr. Kermit Heidt on April 8, 1972, who preceded her in death on May 1, 2012; and Edward W. Fledderjohann, on May 11, 1946, who preceded her in death on January 25, 1968.
Virginia was a graduate of New Knoxville, Ohio and also a certified Veterinary Technician who spent many years working alongside her husband at Heidt Veterinarian Hospital. She was also a 1,500 Hour Volunteer at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
She was a member of First Evangelical & Reformed Church of Lima, and First Church of New Knoxville. Virginia was a sustaining Member of the Ohio State Alumni. She was a member of the Tamarac Golf Club, Lady Swingers League. In her younger years, Virginia was a member of the Tarhe All-Breed Training Club and was proud of her toy poodle “Tweetie” and all her wins that qualified her for the Companion Dog Excellence (CDX) title with the American Kennel Club.
Virginia was a strong woman of God and her relationship with the Lord was a primary focus for her entire life. She had a great love for her family and spending time or talking with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was always a focal point. Many precious memories revolve around the “Olde Farm” and all the family outings. She also enjoyed traveling all over the United States, Europe and Africa with her husband Kermit. And she never wanted to miss any Ohio State sporting events.
She will be remembered as an amazing, kind, Godly and compassionate mom that was full of love and wisdom to her two sons: Lee (Margaret) Fledderjohann and Paul (Debbie) Fledderjohann. Survivors also include four grandchildren who will all remember her infectious laugh, generosity and love; Lisa (Max) Reiner-Fledderjohann, Heidi (Andy) Sluss, Eric (Amanda) Fledderjohann, Laura (Adam) Fox; eleven great-grandchildren; Ella Fledderjohann, Isaac Sluss, Luke Sluss, Chloe Fox, Colin Fledderjohann, Kaitlin Fledderjohann, Carli Fledderjohann, Evvy Sluss, Samuel Fox, Finn Reiner and Kira Reiner, and sister-in-law, Carol Heidt. Aunt Ginny will also hold a special place in the hearts of many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by three sisters: Lucille Moeller, Irene Seitz, Nancy Gruebmeyer; and three brothers: Harold, Virgil and Robert Gruebmeyer.
Special thanks to the staff at Danbury Senior Living for their compassionate care for Virginia, and their kinds words when they saw Lee in the hallways every day for the past four years.
Services will be at First Church of New Knoxville, 200 W. Breman St., New Knoxville, OH 45871, at 12:00 PM on Monday, August 29, 2022 with Rev. Joel Bucklin to officiate the service. Burial will be at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
