Vera F. Young, age 66, passed away May 28, 2021, at 12:36 pm, at Lima Memorial Health System. Vera was born April 16, 1955, in Lima, OH, to Leroy Pearson and Elnora (Adams) Horne who preceded her in death.
Vera graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1972. She had worked at Mizpah Children’s Center as a counselor and then with ARC as a caretaker. Vera then changed careers and worked as a x-ray technician with AMCAST in Wapakoneta. She then transferred to and ended her career with Procter and Gamble also as an x-ray tech retiring in 2012 due to her disability. Vera was an active member of the New Morning Star Baptist Church where she served as a missionary, choir director, pastor’s aid and on the mother board. Vera had a love and appreciation for her favorite violinist Damien Escobar. She will be remembered as being an excellent Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie, GG and Nana and a dedicated Christian Lady. What she stood for was John 3:7.
Vera is survived by her 5 children: Leroy Young IV of Lima, OH, Delisa Young of Union City, GA, Lord’E.L. A.Young, Erving Jones and Candice Jones all of Lima, OH, 2 special grandchildren she helped raise, Leroy Young and L.A. Young, 28 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a sister, Debra (David) Young of Fayetteville, GA, 2 brothers: Otis (Jesse) Pearson and John Pearson both of Lima, OH. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn (Darnell) Fowler, a brother, Leon (Penny) Pearson and her former husband, Leroy Young III.
Following Vera’s wishes, there will not be any services held at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
