Treva Tremain (1947-2022)
Treva Tremain passed away peacefully at the Laurels of Gahanna on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022. She was born in 1947 to Paul and Ruby Kohli in Bluffton, OH. Her later childhood saw her become the foster daughter of Clifford and Altha Gossman, becoming a loving and loved member of the Gossman family through the rest of her life.
Treva attended Bluffton University, earning a degree in Education, after which she became a teacher at Edison Elementary School in Lima, where she used her patience and gentle nature to guide students for almost 30 years.
In 1968, Treva married a young sailor named Dennis Tremain. After Dennis finished serving in the Navy, they spent the early years of their marriage building their home in Lima, preparing themselves for their future family. Starting in 1972, she had three children: Jaison, Todd, and Michelle.
Treva took pride in her family and her home. She kept the home warm and inviting to all who visited. She enjoyed her garden, and her kids were drafted on more than one occasion to help their mom in pulling weeds or breaking green beans.
Treva also loved spending time camping at lakes. One of her favorite places to spend time with her family was at Randall Lake in Coldwater, Michigan. There, the hustle and bustle of everyday life gave way to leisurely afternoons playing in the water or evenings reading or playing cards or other games. From an early age, her kids learned that their mom had a little bit of a competitive streak, and that their cuteness wasn’t going to convince her to throw a game.
As she and Dennis got older and retired, they moved to Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and helped raise their grandson, Nico, while also travelling to visit family and friends across the country. She lived to see four grandchildren grow up, Nico and Dustin from her daughter, Michelle, and Jared and Kaitlyn from her son, Todd.
Treva was the caring and steady rock of the Tremain family, as well as in various friendships throughout her life. She hated to see anyone in pain, and always had a kind word of encouragement and hope to get through troubled times. Those who survive her, including her husband, children, and grandchildren, will miss those words and warm hugs.
There will be a showing and funeral service on Saturday, November 12th at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home at 828 Bellefontaine Ave, Lima, OH 45801. The showing will be from noon until 4pm with the funeral service immediately following at the same location.
Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
