Tomy Lee Mitchell, age 87 of Elida, passed away Friday, Mar. 5, 2021, at 9:47 p.m. in the Emergency Room of Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 21, 1934 in Hardin County, OH, to John and Rhoda (Brumbaugh) Mitchell who preceded him in death. On June 4, 1961 he married Sharon (Montooth) Mitchell who survives.
Also surviving are their children: Mike (Amy) Mitchell, Susan (Joseph) Romary and Jonathan (Shannon) Mitchell; grandchildren: Brenden (Danielle) Mitchell, Cody (Naomi) Mitchell, Kylie (Nick) Bailey, Angelina (Anthony) Pelican, Ariana Mitchell, Shaddai Mitchell, Ruth (Landon) Neuman, Lydia (Tim) Kramer, Anna Romary, Samuel Romary, Luke Romary, Mikaela Mitchell, Tristan Mitchell, Rachel Mitchell, Elizabeth Mitchell, James Mitchell, Emma Mitchell and Adeline Mitchell; great grandchildren: Leah Mitchell, Elyse Mitchell, Makena Mitchell, Aiden Mitchell, Ethan Mitchell, Isabella Bailey, Sawyer Bailey, Quinn Bailey, Dakota Pelican and Cosette Neuman.
He was a 1952 graduate of Elida High School. After which, he joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country, worked at Neon Products for ten years and was a retiree from DANA Corporation after 20 years. He was an excellent wood worker before suffering a stroke. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Mar. 9, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Mar. 10, 2021 with Pastor Neal Whitney to officiate the service in the funeral home. There will be one hour visitation prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service, with military rites by V.F.W. Post 1275 and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
