Thomas “Tom” R. Guy, 79, passed away on November 26, 2019, at 11:53 pm, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born October 13, 1940 in Lima, OH, to Robert and Marian (Miller) Guy who both preceded him in death. On June 28, 1964 he married Joanne (Chapman) Guy who survives in Elida, Ohio.
Tom graduated from Harrod High School in 1958 and served in the Ohio National Guard. He retired from the State of Ohio as a Building Inspector after thirty years. Tom also worked as an Outside Salesman for Moore’s Building Supply. Tom and Joanne were both faithful members at The Church at Allentown. He was also active with the Allen County Junior Fair Board and was an advisor to the Allen County K9 4H Club. Tom won the Friend of 4H award and the Friend of Camp Palmer award. He enjoyed going to various races at Limaland and Eldora Speedway. Tom loved his wife, cherished his son and spending time with his grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his wife, Joanne Guy of Elida, OH, son, Rob (Kristy) Guy of Delphos, OH, grandchildren, Raeyln and Russell Guy both of Delphos, OH, sister, Margery May of Kensington, CT.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Fisher.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 2:00PM to 6:00PM at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 11:00AM, with visitation held one hour prior, at The Church at Allentown, 4900 Allentown Road, Elida, Ohio 45807. Pastor Neal Whitney and Pastor Kelly Waltz to officiate the service. Burial will be in Salem Westminster Cemetery later in the afternoon.
