Thomas R. Sanders, age 71, passed away on November 1, 2021, at 5:02 pm, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Thomas was born on May 1, 1950 in Lima, Ohio to Richard “Dick” Sanders and Vada Hope (Snow) Sanders, both of whom preceded him in death. On March 5, 1977 he married Beth (Baber) Sanders who survives in Lima. He was a dedicated lifelong union member and strongly believed in the mission of his organization. He was a union representative, a member of union local 1020, and was heavily involved with District Council 6. He loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and was an American Motorcycle Association member as well as a member of The Harley Owners Group Club. He loved Riding Harley’s, working on them, and traveling the open roads. He enjoyed taking care of his farm, running his tractor, and watching westerns. Above all else, he loved spending time with his loved ones and those closest to him. Thomas was an exceptional man, and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Survivors include: spouse, Beth Baber Sanders; children, Jacob Sanders, Amanda (Jonathan) Sanders-Keoughan, Angela (Michael) Sanders-Bellow, Bryan Simpson, and Rhonda Groves-Cannistraci; siblings, Vickie (Rick) Carter, Janet (Fritz) Sanders-Krouskop, and Joseph (Lelonie) Sanders; grandchildren, Isaac, Miranda, Amy, Sierra, Dakota, and Caiman; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents, Richard and Vada Hope Sanders; and brother-in-law, Rick Carter.
A public visitation will take place on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Shawnee Chapel. A funeral service will take place the following day, on Monday November 8, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 451 North Cable Road, Lima, OH, 45805. Pastor Andrew Shields will officiate the service. Entombment will take place in Gethsemani Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Robin Rogers.
