Stanley Fannin, age 85, passed away September 20, 2021, at 4:42 pm, at his residence. Stanley was born June 13, 1936, in Hamilton, OH, to Manuel and Anna (Cox) Fannin Sr. who preceded him in death. On December 30, 1955, he married Marian ‘Gail’ (Robinson) Fannin who survives in Lima.
Stanley was a 1954 graduate of Fairfield High School. He was 19 years old when he started working as an asbestos heat and frost insulator with the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators Local # 41. While there he held many positions including Vice President, Executive Board Member and was part of the Wage Negotiation Committee retiring in 1994. Stanley was a member of the Wapakoneta Elks #1170 where he had served as a trustee. He also was a member of the Eagles Aerie #370 and the Bluffton and Hidden Creek Golf Courses where he was an avid golfer. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Stanley is survived by his children: Mark (Wendy) Fannin of Lima, OH, Stacia (Eric) Johnson of Ft. Worth, TX and Jami (Mike Youngs) Fannin of Manitou Springs, CO, 6 grandchildren: Jason (JaNae) Fannin, Trisha (Brent) Nussbaum, Ryan (Liz) Walters, Amber Johnson, Matt Johnson and Mark Johnson, 6 great grandchildren: Brenden Fannin, Kiersten Fannin, Karina Fannin, Elena Nussbaum, Carson Nussbaum and Victoria Walters, 3 sisters: Barbara Spradling of Middletown, OH, Shirley Fugate of Hamilton, OH and Brenda (Rudy) Southard of Hamilton, OH, a sister-in-law, Loretta Fannin of Hamilton, OH and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Manuel ‘Bub’ Fannin, Jr., a sister, Emma Joh (John) Hazelwood, 2 brothers-in-law, Carl Spradling and Gene Fugate.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Entombment of cremated remains will be done privately at a later date in the Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
