Sidney A. Blankenship, 82, passed away on September 7, 2021, at 11:00 am, at The CareCore of Lima.
Sidney was born September 18, 1938 in Princeton , WV, to John and Barbara (Conner) Blankenship who both preceded him in death. On June 8, 1957 he married Frances Blankenship who preceded him in death on March 22, 2021.
Sidney retired from Shawnee Schools. He enjoyed watching horse and NASCAR races. Sidney cherished his wife dearly and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of Sidney’s past times was mowing his property proudly.
Sidney is survived by his children, Judith “Judy” (Bill) Gavalas of Lima, OH, James “Jim” Blankenship of Minster, OH, grandchildren, Michael Reed of Saint Marys, OH, Curtis (Genna) Blankenship of Columbus Grove, OH, Lindsay (Michael) Simpson of Lima, OH, great-grandchildren, Aleeah Brooks, Olivia Blankenship, Lylah Blankenship, Landon, Logan, Madison Belanger, and Monae Simpson, siblings, Martha Dowley, and Sarah Petrey.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Verlie Chambers, Lewis Blankenship, Evelyn Martin, William Blankenship, Jack Blankenship, Lee Blankenship, James Blankenship, Pansy Lockard, and Arlie Blankenship.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00am at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Rev. Ted Bible to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 10:00am until the time of the service.
