Shirley Sheldon Davis, age 87 of Gomer, passed away at 9:30 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Springs of Lima.
She was born on April 24, 1935 in Panama City, Panama, to Commander Robert C. and Grace (Cunningham) Sheldon who preceded her in death. On June 15, 1957 she married Frederick C. Davis who preceded her in death on January 31, 2017.
Surviving is her brother, James D. (Maravic) Sheldon of Lima.
She is also preceded in death by her son, Frederick “Ren” C. Davis, II of Lima and her brothers, Robert C. Sheldon, II of Marietta, GA and Thomas L. Sheldon of Lima.
She was a 1953 graduate of Ada High School and a 1957 graduate of Miami University. She was a homemaker and long time office manager of Sheldon Engineering, retiring in 2012. Shirley was a strong and loving woman who was always there to happily lend a helping hand to family, friends and her community. She was an especially beloved Aunt. She was a great listener, yet never hesitated to share her wisdom when she thought fit. Shirley loved to entertain and have a great party with those she cherished. Her and her husband shared a love of the culinary arts and enjoyed fishing trips to Rice Lake with family friends and weekend road trip getaways together. She especially loved visiting with her family both near and far whom she loved dearly. Shirley was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and was a faithful alumna of Miami University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was also a member of the Allen County Ohio Republican Party, BPOE Lima Lodge #54, Delphos Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Gomer Welsh Society and a lifetime member of Gomer Congregational Church.
Shirley will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Pastor Samuel Payne to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Pike Run Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
