Shawn Christopher McGuire age 54, of Lima quietly passed away at home Monday, January 4, 2021 after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.
Shawn was born January 29, 1966 at St. Rita’s in Lima to Ann (Maley) Kieswetter, who proceeded him in death, and James McGuire who survives in Lima. On May 10, 1996, he married Julie (Shrader) McGuire who survives in Lima.
Shawn graduated in 1984 from Lima Senior High School, and then proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from February 1985 to March 1988. Shawn worked at Superior Wholesale C M Food Distributors for 32 years. He was the night warehouse Manager.
Shawn was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and loved the St. Rose Festival. He looked forward to it every year and coined the phrase, “It’s the best time of the year!” He was an avid bowler in many bowling leagues throughout the years as well as a member of the Orioles Nest #173 of Lima, OH.
Shawn did not know a stranger and he was a great friend to many. He loved his family, friends, bowling, cigars, beer, and baseball – especially the Detroit Tigers.
In addition to his wife Julie, he is survived by his daughters Brooke Levan of Lima and Kelli Mcguire also of Lima, two beautiful grandsons Jacob Jr Levan and Elliott Levan, three sisters Shannon Prowant (Mike Hopper) of Burlington, KY, Erin (Wendel) Woods of Lawrenceburg, KY, Jessica Kieswetter (Nick Finney) of Delphos, OH, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins that love him especially his Uncle Kenny and Aunt Pat who meant the world to him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2021 at St. Rose Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
