Sharon Lee Granger, 83, of Harrod, Ohio passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, surrounded by her family at the Wyngate Senior Living Community in Lima, Ohio. Sharon was born on October 4, 1939, in Lima, Ohio to Evelyn Black Granger and Leonidas Granger, who preceded her in death.
She was the valedictorian of the 1957 Class of Harrod High. Sharon worked at City Loan and Savings Company, attended Ohio State University, Lima, and was a graduate of the American Medical Records Association. She earned a Registered Health Information Technician Degree and went on to have a successful thirty-year career in medical records at the Oakwood Forensic Center/Ohio Correctional Facility, from which she retired as Medical Records Director in 1999. Sharon was an avid seamstress, knitter, quilter, and reader. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed taking adult learning courses at the local OSU branch. She was a collector of Longaberger, Precious Moments, and had an amazing green thumb, especially with African violet plants. She adored dachshunds, with Heidi, Alex, and Gretchen having been dear companions. Sharon was a lifelong member and faithful attendee of the Westminster Christian Church.
She is survived by her sister Sue Anne (Ron) Spencer, nieces Laura (David) Plaugher, Carla (Jerry) Frey, Debra (Devin) Parker, Ronda (Gerald) Lehman, great-nieces and nephews Clay (Kyla) Plaugher, Sara (Brandon) Schimmoeller, Parker (Breanna) Frey, Olivia Parker, Carter Frey, Ryanne Lehman, Sophia Parker, Keaton Lehman, Reese Parker, Evelyn Lehman, and great-great niece Sage Frey.
The family will receive visitors at Chiles-Laman Eastside Chapel, 828 Bellefontaine Avenue from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, with her funeral service to immediately follow with Pastor Parker Frey officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Christian Church or the Alzheimer’s Association of Lima, Ohio.
