Sandra Jean Griffith, age 70 of Lima, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at 6:15 p.m., in Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, as a result of COVID-19 with Respiratory complications. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 20, 1950 in Lima to Robert and Ellen (Taylor) Hawk. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Lima. On Oct. 20, 1975 she married Roger Griffith who also survives in Lima.
Also surviving are her children: Roger (Melissa) Griffith, Jr. of Sidney, Kelly (Mike) Saddler of Lima, Jennifer (Ross) Kuhlman of Ottoville and Melanie (Chris) Saylor of Lima; her brother, Donald Hawk of Port Clinton, and her sisters, Randa (Bud) Gross of Las Vegas and Candy (Tom) Holtsberry of Lima; plus, the following grandchildren: Zachary (Jenny) Griffith, Kayla Mumaw, Morgan McBeth, Madison Saddler, Jacob Carpenter, Tristan Carpenter, Colt Daugherty and Ethan Saylor; and a great-granddaughter, Charleigh Ann Carpenter.
Sandra enjoyed reading, playing on her iPad and watching Chicago Fire. She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slots with her husband. They also enjoyed attending car shows. She was a fan of Elvis music, Kenny Rogers and any oldies but goodies music. Her furry friend, Koko was her shadow and he will so miss her lap. She was a 1968 graduate of Elida High School and attended Northwestern Business College obtaining a degree as a Medical Office Assistant. She performed those duties with Drs. Carroll, Seo, Alexis Nadler and and Davoudi Chiropractic. She attended Crossroads Church of God. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Services will begin at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 5, 2021 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Justin F. Courtney officiating the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Friday from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
As Sandra didn’t relish living plants, her family requests gifts be anything that is not living and nothing red *(she hated red!) She did love wind chimes, blankets and artificial arrangements.
Facial masks will be required and social distancing must be observed for the visitation and funeral service.
