Sally Kay Bedink, age 87, of Elida, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at 9:05 pm, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born November 21, 1935 in Lima, to Russell and Margaret (McComb) Myers who preceded her in death. On June 12, 1970 she married Gary Bedink who survives.
Also surviving are her children: Kathie Jo (Kanitz) Jernigan of Pensacola, FL, Michael (Tami) K. Kanitz of Elida, David (Trudy-dec’d) K. Denison of Lima and Joshua Joseph Bedink of Dayton; a sister, Judy (Charlie) Ann Radebaugh of Lima; and grandchildren: Heather (Joel) Perkins, Brooke (Shaun) McMichael, Morgan Kay Jernigan, Danielle (Austin) Siefker, Tyler Denison, Tyler (fiancée Maddie Pauff) M. Kanitz and Sophia I. Bedink plus ten great-grandchildren.
A sister, Marilyn Joan Selover, preceded her in death.
Sally was a graduate of Wapakoneta-Blume High School. She had been an administrative assistant for The Lima News for many years, and also for Lima Register and Westinghouse. She and her husband owned and operated The Elida Zoo Drive Thru and Deli for a dozen years. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She was a caregiver for her entire family, always looking out for all. She loved to socialize, enjoyed being with people and listening to music. Her and Gary were Snowbirds to Ft. Myers, FL for many years.
Her Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at St. Charles Catholic Church, with Fr. Kent Kaufman to officiate. Entombment will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. A Parish Wake service will be held in the funeral home at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.
