Rudolph V. Freeman, age 91 of Columbus and formerly of Lima, passed away at 2:12 p.m, Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at The James/OSU Hospital.

Rudolph was born June 3, 1929 in Hazard, KY, to Henry and Vanilla (Combs) Freeman who preceded him in death. He had been married to Kathryn (Gilbert) Freeman.

Surviving are his children: Henry B. (Nancy) Freeman of Lima, Debra Pollard of Atlanta, GA, Tony A. Hodges of Austin, TX and Rebekah V. Freeman of Columbus; his sister, Esther Henderson of Milwaukee, WI; nineteen grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by ex-wife, Kathryn Gilbert; a daughter, Sharon Freeman; his brothers: John Henry Freeman, Lowell Freeman, Alvin Freeman and Stonewall Freeman; a sister, Nancy Freeman; and a great-grandson, Domonique J’quez Freeman.

Mr. Freeman was a 32nd Degree Mason. He had been employed by the U.S.P.S. in the bulk mail center in Lima and Allen Park, MI, retiring in 1989. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Services will be held at Noon, Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. Burial will be in Combs Cemetery, Hazard, KY. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
