Ross Cheney, age 64, was called home on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Lima Memorial Health System with his loving family and friends by his side.

Ross was born November 5, 1953, in Lima, OH to Harold E. and Norma L. (Hartman) Cheney. On May 29, 1982, he married Susan K. (Gossard) Cheney.

Ross was a 1972 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He retired from the Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant after 30 years of service, where he had worked as a Cutter Grinder and Pipe Fitter. Ross was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and cruising. He was a compassionate person who loved helping others. Ross loved to make people happy by sharing the food he made, especially his delicious pizza.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Susan K. Cheney of Lima; parents, Harold E. and Norma L. (Hartman) Cheney of Lima; two sons, David R. Cheney (Katie A. Elvington) of Cornelius, NC and Daniel A. Cheney (Hayley M. Freytag) of Lima; three grandchildren, Nora D. Cheney, Nolan D. Cheney and Emory T. Cheney; sister, Rebecca Lee Cheney of FL; brother-in-law, Larry (Leslieann) Gossard of FL and many good friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea D. Cheney; grandparents Cecil F. and Eleanor “MoMo” Hartman, Ralph and Frances Cheney; brother, Phillip D. Cheney and brother-in-law, David E. Gossard.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Lima Community Church, 2945 N. Cole Street, Lima, Ohio 45801. Dr. Doug Boquist will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, at Lima Community Church and one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Community Church, Children’s Ministry.
