Ronald H.”Ron” Bentz, 78, of Lima, passed away at 11:22 AM on November 20, 2021 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born on December 25, 1942, in Lima, to Herbert and Rita (Forche) Bentz, who both preceded him in death. On May 30, 1966, he married Becky Ellerbrock, who survives in Lima.
Ron retired from the City of Lima Sanitation Department after 21 years. He was member of the Eagles Aerie #370, Lima. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Ron never knew a stranger and will be missed by many. He loved his dogs and going to his grandkids events.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife Rebecca “Becky” Bentz and his son Scott (Alison) Bentz of Lima; his daughter Jodi (Bud) Baker of Spencerville; his brother Steve (Deanna) Bentz of Arizona; his sister Carol Pugh of Arizona; his ten grandchildren Justin Bentz, Jeremy Loescher, Jacob Loescher, Jenna Loescher, Brandon Joseph, Cassie Plaugher, Leah Joseph, Dylan Bentz, Cain Bentz and Kobe Bentz; his eight great-grandchildren Masie, Saphaira, Freya, Layla, Braxton, Braelynn, Aeris and Jade; ; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Cindy Loescher.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday, November 26, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, where funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 4:00 PM. Following the funeral, there will be a dinner that all friends are invited to attend.
All friends and family are encouraged to wear Ohio State or Cleveland Browns attire in remembrance of Ron.
Entombment in the Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date at the convenience of the family.
