Ronald (“Ron”) Glenn Woolley, 73, husband of Sally Marlene (Pavey) Woolley of Lima, Ohio, answered the final call on his life and passed from this world and into the presence of his savior Jesus Christ on April 5, 2022, at St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima, Ohio, with his family at his side.
Ronald Woolley was born in Aurora, Illinois on July 11, 1948, and was the son of the late Harold Glenn Woolley and Florence Ruth (Hagemann) Woolley. While at Webster City Community College in Webster City, Iowa where he attended on a basketball scholarship, he met and married Sally, his loving wife of nearly 54 years. Following their marriage they transferred to Northwest Missouri State University, where they finished college. After teaching in Mount Carol, Illinois for 6 years, Ron answered the call on his life to be a pastor, attended Winebrenner Theological Seminary in Findlay, Ohio, and pastored a number of churches in Custer, Ohio, Claire, Michigan, Mt. Pleasant, Illinois, Cridersville, Ohio, and Lima, Ohio, which resulted in the family moving several times before settling in Elida in 1985. As a bi-vocational pastor, Ron worked hard to provide for his family any way he could. Ron ran a driver’s education business, was a youth sports coach, was a substitute teacher, sold cars, was a drug & alcohol counselor, and served as the director of ministry at TV44 in Lima, Ohio. Throughout his life Ron was anchored by his faith in Jesus and was most proud of his decision to give his life to Christ. Ron and Sally were members of Lima Community Church.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Sara Marie Woolley, in 1978. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, of whom Ron was extremely proud, Jon (Julie Folger) Woolley of Dublin, Ohio, Rachel (Ryan) Ely of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Joshua (Danila Kennedy) Woolley of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and eight grandchildren – Hannah and Lauren Woolley, Gavin and Grant Ely, and Tirzah, Titus, Matthias, and Keziah Woolley. Ron is also survived by two sisters, Rosalie (Dave) Kelley of Nemo, South Dakota, and Ruthanne (Jim) Hagie of Cowarts, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Shawnee Chapel, at 4pm on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Visitation with the family will occur from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ron’s name to either Lima Community Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation. The family would like to thank the hospice team at St. Rita’s for the wonderful support offered during Ron’s hospital stay. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
