Ronald G. Bowers, age 85, passed away at 5:09 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, at his home in Delphos.
He was born October 13, 1936 in Elida to Ronald and Margaret Bowers. He married Donna Kistler on August 31, 1957 and she passed away in June 2000. On August 1, 2016, he married Claire Morgret who passed away in November 2018.
Ron is survived by six children : Craig (Ruth) Bowers of Moulton, Lisa (Keith) Kroehler of Elida, Kevin (Lisa) Bowers of Elida, Kyle (June) Bowers of Elida, Cindy (Don) Jacomet of Delphos, Jason (Shannon) Bowers of Lima. Ron had 22 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Roger (Dee) Bowers , Irish (Deb) Bowers and sister-in-law, Cindy Bowers and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Darrell Bowers and Axel Bowers, a sister Kay Ocker and a grandson, Jordan Bowers.
Ron graduated from Elida High School in 1954 and attended Bluffton College, where he played basketball. Ron loved sports and was known statewide for his accomplishments in fast pitch softball. Ron retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years and spent 50 years working in maintenance at the Allentown Cemetery. He was an active member of The Church at Allentown, where he volunteered and oversaw the peanut brittle project for 14 years helping raise $80,000 for missions. Ron was a lifelong self taught wood worker at his “Ye Old Shed”. He and his wife Donna sold their dried flowers and wood creations at craft shows for 18 years. He enjoyed Bible Studies, taking day trips in his truck, collecting antiques, researching family genealogy and watching OSU Buckeye games with his family in the Buckeye Room. Ron was the best story teller and loved to laugh.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 12, 2022, at The Church at Allentown, 4900 Allentown Road, Elida, Ohio 45807.
Pastor Neal Whitney will officiate the service.
Burial will be in Allentown Cemetery following the service.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Church at Allentown.
