Roger N. Thompson, age 71, passed away August 20, 2021, at 1:47 pm, at the Meadows of Delphos. Roger was born July 1, 1950, in Lima, OH, to Alfred C. and Betty J. (Rodney) Thompson who preceded him in death. On January 20, 1999, he married Rexine K. (Niebel) Thompson who survives in Lima.
Roger was a 1968 graduate of Bath High School. After high school he worked at his family’s drug store, “Davis Drug Store” then became the owner in the mid 1970’s and ran the drug store until it closed in 1991. Roger was an insurance agent, then manager with Prudential until he retired in 2001. He and his wife moved to Florida where he became a professional golfer playing in the Florida Seniors Tour. Roger loved traveling in his motor home with his wife and dog “Snickers” by his side. Above all else he relished in watching his grandchildren in all their activities and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by his children: Melissa (Kevin) Bowman of Lima, OH, Bridgette (Jon) Niebel of Knoxville, TN, Amanda (Chad) Trempert of Rockwall, TX, Kelley (Kevin) Lacey of Springfield, OH, Karen Robey of Elmore, OH and Susan (Chris) Serenari of Kyle, TX, 14 grandchildren: Kaelin, Derrick (Shaye) and Braden Bowman, Lucas, Gabriel and Lucy Niebel, James and Brooks Trempert, Ashley and Marin Butler, Madden and Makenna Witt, Addison and Koen Serenari, 2 great grandsons: Braxton Klingler and Arlo Bowman, 3 siblings: Charles Lynn (Paula) Thompson of Crossville, TN, Debbie (Jeff) Glazer of Lima, OH and Susan (Richard) Collins of Lima, OH. He is also survived by his extended family, a brother in-law, Ron (Carol) Niebel of Ft. Wayne, IN, 2 sisters in-law, Priscilla (Joe) Hawk of Glen Carbon, IL and Kathy Niebel of Lima, OH. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Steven Thompson and a brother in-law, Steve Niebel.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at 1829 Stewart Rd., Lima, OH 45801 on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 1-3 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bath High School Athletic Department for the benefit of the golf team.
