Roger E. ‘Tuffy’ Gross, 90, passed away on November 18, 2022 at 6:46 am at his home in Largo, Florida.
He was born March 22, 1932 in McGuffey, Ohio to John D. and Clara (Gossard) Gross. On April 16, 1977, he married Phyllis (O’Dell) Gross (deceased 1994).
Survivors include his three daughters, Mary Shuey (Don) of Largo, Fl, Garnett Jablon (Walt) of Seminole, Fl, Tina Keeley (Bill) of Madeira Beach, Fl., five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; his brothers Gary Gross (Bev), of Waynesfield and Robert Gross (Pat) of Elida; his sisters Mary Helen Gross Spees and Vera Mae Gross Plaugher both of Lima. He is also survived by her sister-in-law Sarah Gross and his son Denzil’s girlfriend Joannie.
He is preceded in death by his son Denzil Gross; sisters Cretora Gross Waltermire (Ike), Dora Gross Shaw (Roger) and brothers Chuck Gross (Kate), Fred Gross (Mary), Ron Gross. he was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Harry Spees and Jr. Plaugher.
Roger retired from Proctor & Gamble on April 1, 1994, as a shift supervisor. Roger served in the U.S, Army as a corporal in the Korean War from January 1952 to January 1954. He enjoyed the Honor Flight to Washington, DC in 2019. He also belonged to American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge, Eagles, and Sager Lodge of Lima, Ohio. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and going to the casino.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL, 828 Bellefontaine Ave., Lima.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the funeral home with Chaplain Herb Wilker officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, where military honors will be performed by active duty member of the U.S. Army and VFW Post #1275.
