Robert L. Sweeny, age 69, passed away on June 19, 2021, at 9:56 a.m., at his residence.

Robert was born December 19th, 1951 in Lima to Frank Sweeny and Cecile (Jett) Sweeny, both of whom preceded him in death. On October 31, 1970 he married Kathy L. (Boedecker) Sweeny who survives in Lima. He worked at SumiRiko of Ohio for many years, where he served with pride and worked hard to provide for his beloved family. He was a member of the Lima Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #370 as well as the Loyal Order of the Moose Indian Lake Lodge 1533. Boating and camping were two of his favorite pastimes. He had a passion for being in the great outdoors with those that were closest to him. He loved his family above all else. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and he knew how to make every second count. Robert was an exceptional man, and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Survivors include: spouse, Kathy L. Sweeny; children, Scott (Melissa) Sweeny and Kimberly Crawford; brother, Edward (Martha) Sweeny; grandchildren, Nick Cygan, Brady Sweeny, Ashley Crawford, Lauren Sweeny, and Trey Crawford; great-granddaughter, Meray Cygan, sisters-in-law, Sharon (John) Dukes and Brenda (Robert) Greeley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents, Frank and Cecile Sweeny, as well as sister, Jule Ruess.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Shawnee Chapel.
Randy Davis will officiate the service. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on June 22nd, also at the Shawnee Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
