Robert (Bob) E. Calvert, age 86, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022 surrounded by the love of his family. Bob was born on May 10, 1935 in Lima, Ohio to the late Wright and Ruth Calvert. On December 13, 1958 he married the love of his life, Janet Kay (Conrad) Calvert and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together.
Bob is survived by his wife Janet, and 3 children: Steve (Sonia) Calvert of Wapakoneta; Kelly (Bill) McCarthy of Lima; and Sandy (Sara) Calvert of Lakeland, Florida; 4 grandchildren: Brandi (Rob) Vermillion; Kirsten Yetman; Shawn (Keri) Calvert; and Shannon (Aaron) Robnolte; 11 great-grandchildren: Caden, Kyra, Kaylor, Kellan, Myles, Grant, Bailee, Bryce, Gage, Adyson, and Remi; brother, Dennis (Terry) Calver; sister-in-law, Pat Calvert; two brothers-in-law, Rich Dirmeyer and Ron Dodds.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Calvert; three sisters, Wanda Dodds, Betty Stevens, Donna Dirmeyer and a brother, Willy Calvert.
Bob worked at Ford Motor Company for 36 years. He served with the Ohio National Guard. He was a past member of Acadia Lodge #306 F. & A.M. Spencerville, Ohio and was a current member of Mercer Lodge No. #121 F. & A. M. St. Marys, Ohio. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason Valley of Dayton, along with being a member of the National Rifle Association. Bob enjoyed motorcycles, old cars, and spending time with family. He was always known for his quick-witted humor and carrying candy in his pocket.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 2-4 PM and 6-8PM at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Cheryl Martin will officiate the service. Burial will follow in St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Cridersville.
