Robert “Bob” L. Wise, Jr., 81 of Lima, passed away August 15, 2022, at his home.
Bob was born August 14, 1941, in Lima, to Robert Sr. and Dorothy (Wagner) Wise, who preceded him in death. On December 30, 1961, he married Marvyl (Miller) Wise, who survives him in Lima.
Bob was a 1959 graduate of Lima Senior High School and a proud United States Army Veteran, serving in the 293rd Engineers division in Germany. He worked in construction for many years at Dietrich Interiors and later retired from Sugar Creek Construction. Bob was an active member of Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren and was very involved in the Soap Box Derby, both as a volunteer and a former director. He was an avid carpenter and talented wood worker, winning many awards at the Allen County, Sarasota and Ohio State Fairs. Bob enjoyed attending and participating in car shows, where he also won many awards. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family; his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Steve (Mindy) Wise and Brian (Bev) Wise; grandsons, Eric (Ashley) Wise, Matthew (Victoria) Wise, Kyle Wise, Edwin (Ashley) VanHorn and Joe VanHorn and his great-grandchildren, Chloe, Gray, Colt, Sage, Hayleigh, Austin, Brayden and Landon.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Don Wise and John Wise.
Funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Rev Mike Huffaker to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, August 19, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
