Cridersville, Ohio
Robert “Bob” D. Green, 54 of Cridersville, Ohio formally of Lima, OH passed away on July 11th, 2020 at 5:23 PM surrounded by his family after an extended battle with cancer. Bob was born on April 19th, 1966 in Lima, OH to Ronald E. and Frances E. Green who both preceded him in death. On August 30th, 1986, Bob married Stephanie D. Green (May) who survives in Cridersville.
Bob attended and graduated from Lima Senior High School, Lima Technical College (James A. Rhodes State College), and Bluffton College (Bluffton University). Bob was a Quality Assurance Manager for Ametek – Westchester Plastics in Wapakoneta, OH while also working previously at Occidental Chemical Corporation/Durez in Kenton, OH, and Pepsi Bottling Company in Lima, OH. He worked hard at his job and put in an honest days work while being quick to recognize the contributions of the whole organization in the success of the organization. He was always quick in deflecting his own successes as he was simply doing his job and didn’t need the recognition. He instilled within his family that everyone in an organization no matter their position plays a role in the success of the organization which has been a reminder for us all.
Bob was a family man who could be found on a given Saturday from November – August at the hockey rink either in Lima or Celina. He was most comfortable spending time with his wife and children simply cooking food whether it was spaghetti or grilling out. He had a niche for remembering random lines from television shows which he would properly fit into a conversation and has passed that niche on to his children much to his wife’s grimace.
Bob had an adoration for reading and education which was passed down to his children and is exhibited by their drive for knowledge and skill. He enjoyed any book but really enjoyed Science and Science fiction genres. He was an avid fan of Ohio State Buckeye Football, Detroit Red Wings Hockey, and Curling. He enjoyed any time in which that team up North was on the losing end of a match but none was more special then when they would lose to Ohio State on the football field.
Bob was a volunteer in various capacities with Boy Scout Pack 50 at Horace Mann Elementary School (Heritage Elementary) in Lima, OH, Lima Midget Football Association, Lima Police Department Exchange Club Roller Hockey, and Wings N Wheels Roller Hockey (Celina, OH) as a coach, concession stand, referee, score keeper, and a plethora of other positions. It was imperative that he gave back to his community and instill that trait amongst his family because “someone did it for me as a kid and now it is my turn to set the tone for the next generation”.
Bob is survived by his wife Stephanie D. Green of Cridersville, children Robert C. Green (Tara) of Columbus, OH, Christine E. Ortiz (Michael) of Lima, OH, and Daniel N. Green of Cridersville, OH. Bob is survived by his brother Ronald Green (Kim) of Huntsville, OH and sisters Casey Bloom (Craig) of Delphos, Tina Grigsby (John) of Lima, OH, Peggy (Evan) Lacy of Cridersville, and Sherrie (Ralph) Langhals of Ottoville, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:00am, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Bob requested that those in attendance wear their favorite hockey jersey to the viewing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed in Bob’s name to either the Lima Police Department Exchange Club Roller Hockey League of Lima, OH, Wings N Wheels Hockey of Celina, OH or The Fort Wayne Rail Road Historical Society of New Haven, IN.
Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
