Robert C. Hensley, 96, formerly of Lima, OH, passed away on February 7, 2021, at 3:35 am, at The Meadows of Kalida.
Bob was born May 3, 1924 in Lima, OH, to James “Jim” and Alta Mae (Githens) Hensley who both preceded him in death. On January 11, 1947 he married Barbara Anne (Hopkins) Hensley who survives in Kalida, OH.
Bob retired from Lima Ohio Refinery / BP in 1985 after thirty six years as a pipe fitter. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a deep sea diver. He was a member of Lima Baptist Temple where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon for many years. He was Supt. / teacher of Middlers Sunday School Dept. for twenty years and was active in the church’s visitation program. He was also a proud member of the Harps and Strings at the Lima Baptist Temple, playing the Harmonica.
Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara and their children, Steven Robert (Darlene) Hensley of Kalida, OH, Sandra Raye McDonald of Little Rock, AR, Bethany Anne (Willie) Burke of Andersonville, TN, grandchildren, Susan (Tim) Crane of Marysville, OH, Thomas (Joanna) McDonald of Little Rock, AR, step-grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Kleman of SC, Erin (Mike) Kleman Hollenbaugh of Barberton, OH, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Pauline (Frank) Kuck.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 11:00am at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Rev. Jerry Burton and Pastor Terry Porter to officiate the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, near Dupoint, Ohio following the service.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
