Rita Jean Yaney, 80 of Lima, passed away April 13, 2022, at 9:20 pm, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Rita was born June 8, 1941 in Lima, to Woodrow Davis and Dorothy (Beecher) Ross, who preceded her in death. On March 20, 1998, she married Stephen Yaney, who survives her in Lima.

Rita was a graduate of Lima South High School and owned Rita’s Waiting Room. She always went above and beyond to help the less fortunate. For Christmas, Rita adopted a family, dressed as an elf and brought them gifts. She made sure the bar was open every holiday and anyone who didn’t have a place to go, could come in for a meal. The perfect word to describe Rita: selfless. She loved playing cards, singing karaoke and playing games of skill and chance. She enjoyed watching Ohio State and Browns football, as well as NASCAR. Animals held a special place in Rita’s heart, especially her pets. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as her Waiting Room extended family and she will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her husband, Rita is survived by her children, Kim Coil, Todd (KCee) Coil, Rita Melissa (Jon) Brunner, William J. (Annette) Gorman, II and Keith (Stephanie) Gorman; step-children, Angela (Mo) Mohanty and Michelle (Dean) Yaney; grandchildren, Alicia Coil, Brooke Ruiz, William Joseph Gorman, III, Bailey Gorman, Tyler Gorman, Sabrina Gorman, Ethan Gorman, Andrew Fisher, Maya Mohanty, Brittany Hefner and Stephen Dildy; great-grandchildren, Annamarie Myers, Troy Myers, Lexi Rae Long, Sidney Ruiz, Zane Gorman, Mycalah Graves, Mariyah Graves, Rickie Graves, Madeleine Graves, Makenli Graves and Simon Dildy and her sisters, Brenda Barker and Rhonda Fierro.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Jeremy Hedrick; brothers; Larry Davis and Dick Davis and her sister, Darlene Howard.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Father Mike Sergi to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, April 18, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society, St. Vincent De Paul or a charity of the donor’s choice.
