Rita H. Duran, age 54, passed away on November 25, 2021, at 8:41 am, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
Rita was born December 14, 1966 in Lima, Ohio to Emanuel Duran who survives and Esperanza (Andrade) Duran who preceded her in death. She was a dedicated member of St. Rose Catholic Church, where she greatly enjoyed attending and sharing in faith with her friends and family. She majored in communications at the University of Findlay where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 1992. She had a passion for education, and served the Lima community as a teacher for Lima City Schools for many years up until the present. She loved watching football and was a major Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. Above all else, she loved her family, and took great pleasure in caring for her beloved grandchildren. Rita was an exceptional woman, and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Survivors include: her father, Emanuel Duran; children, Alexander Duran and David (Lenzey) Duran; siblings, Arnold Duran, Elaine (Jarrod) Beachy, Linda (John) Harrod, Jane (Shane) Harper, and Chris (Michelle) Duran; grandchildren, Tristyn, Hudson “Chuncky” and Scarlette “Lettie” Duran; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to Kelly Kittel-Peschke.
Preceded in death by: her mother, Esperanza Duran; as well as siblings, Allen Duran, Thomas Duran, and Brenda Weiksner.
A public visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Eastside Chapel. A memorial mass will take place at St. Rose Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on the following day, Saturday, December 4, 2021. Father Kent Kaufman will officiate.
