Richard L. Browder, age 86 of Lima, passed away at 6:24 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022 at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 11, 1935 in Saegertown, PA, to Samuel Alexander and Mildred Ruth (Kettering) Browder who preceded him in death. On Sept. 2, 1961 he married Patricia A. Farris Browder who preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2010.
Surviving are their sons: Jeffrey (Jolie) Lynn Browder of St. Augustine, FL; Gregory Scott Browder of Lima; and Timothy Joseph (Marie) Browder of Ellinwood, KS; nine grandchildren: Carrie Radovan, Joshua Browder, Darlene Kemble, Sarah Browder, Michael Kemble, Ethan Samuel (Tezdy) Browder, Jacob Browder, Jordan Browder and Yestah Michelle Meske; his seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are a brother, Samuel (Bonnie) Browder of Meadeville, PA.
He is preceded in death by the following siblings: Robert “Red”, Marie, Larry and Kelly.
Richard retired after 42 years as a tool and die maker for Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during Viet Nam. He was a member of the Blue Lodge F. & A.M. and a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was the manager of the Encore Theater during the 1970s.
Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Dr. Thomas Holmes to officiate the service. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery following the service, with military rites by V.F.W. Post 1275 and the U.S Marine Corps Honor Guard. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
