Richard Gerry Howell, age 80 of Lima, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at 2:01 pm, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.

He was born June 27, 1940 in Lakeview to Henry and Ruth Faye (McClurg) Howell who preceded him in death. On March 19, 1970 he married Carol Rose Steele who survives.

Surviving are a niece that they adopted, Sheri Daniels of Canton; siblings: Ruth Alsept of Toledo, Carol Fess of Lima, Susan Schnitz of Huntington, IN,
Larry Conrad of Findlay, Gerald Howell and Ronald Howell both of Cridersville, Vernon Terry Howell of Nebraska, Susan Gardner of Clarksville, TN and Dale; grandchildren: Tasha Davis, Ciera Howell, Dale Howell, Jr.; great-grandchildren Shyla, Jaxton, Emberlynne, Loveah, Trevor, Romero, and Taven, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a son, Dale Edward Howell, son-in-law, Jerry Daniels, and the following siblings: Catherine Phalen, Audrey Adams, twins, Jeannette Clemens and Jean Sherman, Pauline Swarner and Norman “Spike” Howell.

He was a retired a pipe insulator for Union Local 41, Ft. Wayne, retiring in 1998. He was a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Gardendale Church of God, since 1992.

Services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 at Gardendale Church of God, where facial masks are encouraged and social distancing will be observed. Rev. Justin Musto will officiate the service. Burial will be in St. Matthew’s Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post 8445. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gardendale Church of God.
