Richard “Dick” Arnold Andrew George, 91 of Lima, passed away June 16, 2022, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born September 15, 1930 in Henry County, Ohio to Wilbur and Esther (Mortenson) George, who preceded him in death. On August 6, 1949, he married the love of his life, Rosella C. “Rosie” (Magula) George, who preceded him in death in 2009.
Dick was the owner and operator of White Cottage Rental Inc. and a former member of Peace Lutheran Church. As a young man, he enjoyed participating in stockcar racing and he cherished his Sunday “shopping” trips to the Toledo Casino with his wife. He was an avid perch and walleye fisherman and he and his wife loved spending time on their boat. Dick had a wonderful sense of humor and he loved pulling pranks on his family and friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dick will be remembered and deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Dick is survived by his children, R. Brad (Linda) George, Jennifer Reynolds, Kathleen (James) Guy, Rosanne (Andre) Laibe, Karen (Douglas) Steiner and Paula George; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and his brothers, Ronald George and Roger (Cheryl) George.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Summer C. Guy; son-in-law, Robert Reynolds; brothers, Robert George and Rex Shepherd and his step-father, John Shepherd.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 24, 2022 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Burial will follow in Elida Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2022 and an hour before the service at the funeral home.
