Richard “Gibby” B. Gilbert, age 62, passed away November 21, 2021, at 1:19 pm, at the Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Gibby was born January 30, 1959, in Lima, OH, to Richard I. Gilbert and Janet L. (Gibson) Gilbert-Stedcke who preceded him in death. On August 26, 1995, he married Lois D. (Leiss) Gilbert who survives in Lima.
Gibby was a 1977 graduate of Elida High School. After high school he began working for the City of Lima as an operator in the waste water management department. He worked there for 39 years retiring in 2017. He was a member of the Shawnee Alliance Church. Gibby loved bowling, The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and watching Andy Griffith.
In addition to his wife, Gibby is survived by his children: Monica Green and Amber (Jason Nance) Green both of Wapakoneta, OH, a sister, Lisa (Greg) Ciminillo of Lima, OH, a nephew, Jeffrey Gilbert Jr, a niece, Jennifer Jeffers, 2 great nieces: Hayley Jerwers and Reagan Jeffers and a great nephew, Tony Jeffers. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jazlynn Gray and a brother, Jeffrey Gilbert Sr.
There will be a funeral service held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Shawnee Alliance Church. Officiating the service will be Pastor Kris Browning. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum following the service.
Friends may visit on Sunday from 2-6 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
