Ramona “Mona” B. Wheelhouse, age 87, was called home on June 2, 2019, at 1:19 am, at the Mercy-Health St. Rita’s Medical Center. She resided at the Willow Ridge Retirement Community in Bluffton, OH. Mona was born May 21, 1932, in McComb, OH, to Jesse and Grace (Walker) Bennett who preceded her in death.
Mona was a 1950 graduate of McComb High School. Then she attended God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, OH where she met her first husband L.G. Martin. After college they moved toVirginia where they raised their son. During this time Mona took a job with the food service company Mazo Lerch where she worked for many years and retired. Mona was a member of Highland Springs Church of the Nazarene in Richmond, VA. She dearly loved her church and church family. Above all else she loved her Lord and Savor, Jesus Christ. After the death of her first husband, Mona married Linwood C. Wheelhouse on December 30, 2000, who also preceded her in death in 2007.
Mona is survived by 2 grandchildren: Starlett (Andrew) Suarez of Lima, OH and Joshua Martin of Richmond, VA, a sister in-law, Dorothy Bennett of Lima, OH, 4 nieces: Linda Swick, Julia (Tom) Golden, Dorothy L.Swick all of Lima, OH and Vickie Lee (Alan) Hetrick of Versailles, OH, numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Gregg D. (Deanna) Martin, a sister, H. Jeanne Swick, a brother, Donald P. Bennett, a niece, Beckie (Swick) Deubler, and 3 nephews: Steven B. Swick, Joe M. Swick and David K. Bennett.
There will be a funeral service held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Highland SpringsChurch of the Nazarene @ 6003 Hawkes Ln., Richmond, VA, 23223. Burial will be in Washington Memorial Cemetery in Sandston, VA following the service.
Friends may call from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Springs Church of the Nazarene.
