Ralph J. Byrne Sr., age 88, passed away October 12, 2021, at 10:00 pm, at the Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. Ralph was born October 15, 1932, in Cement City, MI, to Arthur M. and Emma S. (Burkhead) Byrne who preceded him in death. On October 9, 1955, he married Fae E. (Glasco) Byrne who preceded him in death on June 27, 2010.
Ralph was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He had worked as a laborer for Local #326 retiring in 1997. Ralph was a former member of the Orioles. Some of his interests included: working on cars, fishing and chasing his grandchildren around. He dearly loved and missed his wife and is rejoicing to be reunited with her.
Ralph is survived by his children: Clark (Donna) Byrne, Joyce (Vernon) Clark and Beverly Catlett, all of Lima, OH, Janet Kaiser of Greer, SC, Douglas (Teresa) Byrne and Anthony (JoAnna) Byrne, both of Lima, OH 12 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren and a sister, Betty Bell of Dayton, OH. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Byrne Jr.
There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will Rev. Don Smith. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Military honors will be provided by the VFW #1275 and the U.S. Army.
Friends may visit on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of the funeral at the EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran’s Food Pantry. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
