Orrin “John” Wilcox Jr., 77 of Cridersville, passed away November 4, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
John was born March 19, 1940 in Lima, OH, to Orrin and Elizabeth (Foley) Wilcox who preceded him in death. On August 1, 1959 he married his high school sweetheart Marilyn Niles Wilcox who survives him in Cridersville. John graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1958, where he stayed active on the class planning commission.
He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps stationed in Buford, SC. John worked at B & O Railroad company for many years until he retired in 1993. He loved to travel and did so every chance that he got. John had a wonderful sense of humor and an intense love for his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Steve) Burns; sons, John Robert Wilcox, Mike (Candy) Wilcox, and Bill (Kim Henry) Wilcox; grandchildren, Bryan Burns, Sarah (Mark) Dotson, Brittney Burns, Joey Burns, Michael Burns, Ryan Wilcox, Rachel Wilcox and Katie Wilcox; sister, Rose Alma Sliemers and his sister-in-law Barbara Wilcox. John is preceded in death by his brothers, Tom and Bill Wilcox and his sister, Mary Webb.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 9, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church with Fr. Kent Kaufman to officiate the service. Burial will be in Blue Lick Cemetery following the service with military rites performed by VFW #1275 and the United States Marines. The family would like to invite everyone to a reception at St. Charles Catholic Church following burial.
Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. There will be a Wake Service at 8:00 PM following calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be expressed at chiles-lamanfh.com
