Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services – Bluffton. Pastors Billy Mosley and Gary Mosley officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Beaverdam. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Beaverdam
Norma Jean Sloce, 85, passed away September 17, 2021 at Lima Memorial Health System. Norma was born September 24, 1935 in Norton, Virginia to the late Hobart and Lona (Caudill) Sturgill. On May 7, 1955 she married Sidney Sloce who preceded her in death on October 13, 2011.
Norma was the head cafeteria worker at the Beaverdam and Bluffton Schools for 26 years before she retired. She was a member of Garden of Love Old Regular Baptist Church in St. Mary’s, Ohio. Norma enjoyed quilting, canning and was an excellent baker.
Survivors include a son, David Sloce of Beaverdam; a daughter, Debra (Frank Gillette) Sloce of Beaverdam; two grandchildren, Joshua and Johnathan McPheron; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Phyllis Owens of Norton, Virginia.
Norma was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Sturgill and three brothers, Donald Sturgill, Kenneth Sturgill and Hubert Sturgill.
