Myron “Mike” M. McGue, age 73, passed away May 10, 2021, at 7:25 pm, at the Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Mike was born May 4, 1948, in Lima, OH, to Harry and Vivian (Tabler) McGue who preceded him in death. On July 12, 2003, he married Joan R. (Davisson) McGue who survives in Cridersville.
Mike was a 1966 graduate of Bath High School. After High School he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. When he returned home from serving his country he took a position with the Lima Post Office. He worked there for 28 years until he retired in 1993. After retirement he then had worked for Securitas where he was head of security. Mike was a member of the Cridersville United Methodist Church. He was also a former member of the Lima Elks BPOE #54. Mike was referred to as “Grandpa Baseball”. He loved to watch Elida and Shawnee baseball athletics. He also liked to watch Ohio State Buckeyes football and was an avid golfer. He was a regular at the Casa Lu Al Restaurant.
In addition to his wife Joan, Mike is survived by his sons: Shawn (Elizabeth) McGue and Shane McGue both of Lima, OH, his grandchildren: Lauren McGue, Ryan McGue, Ashley McGue and Aaron McGue, his stepchildren: Tammy (Len) Ream of Lima, OH, Troy (Tonya) Thomas of Lima, OH, Temple (Aaron) Wright of Lima, OH and Tricia (Nick) Bowsher of Indianapolis, IN, 11 step grandchildren, 21 step great grandchildren and 1 great great step-grandson, a brother, Scott (Bonnie) McGue of Wapakoneta, OH and a sister, Doneta Warren of Lima, OH. He was preceded in death by his siblings: David McGue, Charles McGue, Thomas McGue, Jan Nichols-Martin, Jean Pickering and Harriet Fultz.
There will be a funeral a service held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
Officiating the service will be Pastor Mark Hollinger. Following the service there will be military honors provided by the U. S. Army and the VFW #1275. Burial will be held privately at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 pm and then again on Friday one hour prior to the service at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cridersville United Methodist Church or Mercy-Health St. Rita’s Hospice. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
