Myron D. Brown, age 101 of Lima, passed away August 8, 2021, at 5:10 pm, Burton’s Ridge Assisted Living.

Myron was born Aug. 13, 1919 near Sycamore, OH, to Frank O. and Florence (Davis) Brown who preceded him in death in 1985 and 1949 respectively. On Nov. 17, 1943, he married M. Louise Collins of Key West, FL, who died in 1991. On Dec. 5, 1992, he married his childhood sweetheart, Ardis Ekleberry Condon, who died in 2001. On Nov. 17, 2002, he married Marjorie Minter Rummel, his longtime childhood friend, who survives.

Myron was a science and mathematics teacher from 1941 to 1990, teaching in Chatfield, OH, the U.S. Navy at Key West Fleet Sonar School during W.W. II, and Canton South, Canton, OH and Lorain, OH public schools. He graduated from Bluffton College in 1941, The Ohio State University with a Masters in Science Education and Bowling Green State University with MA in Mathematics in 1966. He also taught at the Lorain County Community College. He was a member of Family of Faith United Methodist Church, Lima.

Also surviving are three daughters: Terry Lee (Donald) Burkhead of Grinnell, IA, Kathy Sue Brown of Bar Harbor, ME and Ruth Lynn (Roger) Zachary of Atascadero, CA; a son, Kevin D. (Julia) Brown of Delafield, WI; a son, Steven D. Brown, died in February, 2005. There are five grandchildren, Mark (Peggy) Burkhead, Robyn (James) Douglas, Greg (Christine) Burkhead, Claire Grigsby and Olivia Brown; two great-grandsons, Will and Foster Burkhead. and one great-granddaughter, Ruthie Burkhead.

Myron was also loved by his second wife, Ardis’ children: Steve (Beth) Condon of Pendleton, CA, Carol (Mike) Buddie of Rocky River, OH and Kathleen (Paul) LaFrance of Channel Islands Harbor, CA, along with their children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Condon in May, and his wife Gloria survives in Bend, OR.

Marjorie’s family provided much support in the last twenty years, including children Rev. Marcia Lynn Rummel of Lima, Douglas A. (Cindy) Rummel of Lima and Susan Kay (Rish) Moorman of Lima; grandchildren: Barry (Tiffany) Rummel, Stephanie JoAnn Gregory and Shane Moorman; great-grandchildren: Brynlee Rummel and Lukas Rummel.

He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Wirt, Vaughn and John Brown.

There will be no visitation as the family is scattered and his ashes will be scattered at sea with his first wife. Services will begin at 3:00 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, which would be his 102nd birthday, at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Pastor John Maynard officiating. Military rites will be performed by V.F.W. Post 1275 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
