Michael Allen Van Horn, age 73, was called into the presence of the Lord at 3:34 a.m. Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Riverside Health Care Center in Dayton, Ohio.

Michael was born October 2, 1948 in Lima, OH, to the late Harold and Jean (Myers) Van Horn.

Michael attended Elida High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He was a highly decorated soldier, receiving several medals including a Purple Heart. Michael retired from General Dynamics and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gifted painter. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Shannon (Tina) Van Horn of Lima; granddaughter, Emily Van Horn of Lima; three great grandsons, Jaxin, Matthew Jr. and Mason Van Horn all of Lima; great granddaughter, Pauline Van Horn of Lima; two brothers, Terry (Jean) Van Horn of Cairo and Harold (Karen) Van Horn of Elida; sister, Ann (Bernie) Bellmann of Elida; and many other loving family members.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Van Horn; brother, Timothy Van Horn; and his first wife, Monna Jean (Fanaff) Van Horn.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corp. and VFW #1275 will take place at 6:00 p.m. following the visitation.
